Salman Khan has dropped the first song from his upcoming war drama Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace, with the romantic track Mera Jee Nahi Bhara released by the makers on April 10, 2026. According to India TV, the song formally introduces newcomers Zeyn Shaw and debutante Abhishrri Sen, with Salman himself appearing alongside the leads to anchor the launch.
The track is sung by Shreya Ghoshal and Vishal Mishra, composed by Shamir Tandon and Kumar Gaurav Singh, with lyrics by Vishwadeep Zeest, as Bollywood Hungama reported. The song frames a budding romance against the backdrop of a war setting, signalling the films attempt to balance human drama with the larger geopolitical canvas the production has chosen.
Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace is directed by Apoorva Lakhia and is scheduled to hit theatres on August 14. The film is based on real events from June 15, 2020, when Indian soldiers faced off against Chinese forces in the Galwan Valley, one of the deadliest border confrontations between the two countries in decades. Chitrangada Singh plays a pivotal role alongside Salman in the ensemble.
Fan reaction to the song has been strong on social media, with Filmibeat reporting that audiences praised the emotional vocals and composition, particularly Shreya Ghoshal vocal turn paired with Vishal Mishra. Clips from the song trended in India and across Gulf markets where Salman commands one of the largest expatriate fan bases, including the UAE.
The release marks the start of an unusually crowded run for Salman Khan in 2026. Beyond Maatrubhumi, the actor is currently shooting for producer Dil Raju next film, directed by Vamshi Paidipally in Mumbai, with prosthetics designer Preetisheel Singh brought in to craft multiple looks for him. A separate superhero project with directors Raj and DK is also in development, reportedly with Weta FX in talks to handle the visual effects work.
For UAE-based fans, Maatrubhumi is shaping up as one of the most anticipated Bollywood theatrical releases of the August holiday window. The Mera Jee Nahi Bhara track has set an emotional tone that suggests Salman is leaning into character work rather than star spectacle for this particular film, a shift his Gulf audience appears ready to embrace.
