UAE health authorities have reaffirmed the country's readiness to respond to Ebola developments, citing robust national surveillance and response systems as the summer travel season approaches.
The National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority (NCEMA) and the Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) confirmed in late May 2026 that the UAE's health infrastructure remains fully prepared to monitor and respond to any potential Ebola threats, according to Gulf News and Emirates 24|7.
Coordinated national response
The announcement followed a high-level meeting chaired by Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of Health and Prevention, held under the oversight of NCEMA and attended by representatives of relevant federal and local entities and strategic partners.
Officials reviewed the readiness of the national health surveillance and response system and reaffirmed that it is subject to continuous evaluation and review in line with international standards and World Health Organization guidelines.
Airport and quarantine measures
According to Sharjah24 and Gulf Business, participants assessed precautionary measures implemented at UAE airports and aviation-related health protocols designed to reduce the risk of disease transmission through international travel. The meeting also evaluated the readiness of institutional quarantine facilities operated by local health authorities across the emirates.
NCEMA and MoHAP stressed the continued implementation of precautionary monitoring measures as part of the UAE's proactive approach to strengthening public health preparedness and communicable disease response.
Travel advisories and public guidance
The UAE has issued an Ebola advisory for residents that includes travel warnings to affected central African countries and health guidelines, as reported by Gulf News. Neighbouring Bahrain and Jordan have already banned visitors from three central African states linked to the current outbreak, according to The National.
Authorities have urged residents and travellers to rely only on official sources for information and to follow advisories issued by MoHAP and local health authorities before travelling abroad.
Healthcare facilities on standby
Officials confirmed that healthcare facilities and medical teams across the UAE remain fully prepared to respond efficiently to various health situations when required, with isolation capacity, trained staff, and laboratory testing capabilities aligned with WHO protocols.
