Barasti Beach Club is pausing operations. The Mina Seyahi venue announced a temporary closure this June to prepare for a major redevelopment, with plans to return in 2027.
A legacy spanning three decades
Since opening in 1995, the spot has hosted global DJs like Steve Aoki and Alan Walker. It also served as a hub for major sporting moments, including World Cup screenings and events like the Corona Sunsets series. The club became known for a relaxed atmosphere that persisted even as Dubai Marina’s skyline grew and destinations like J1 Beach and Palm West Beach emerged.
For 30 years, the venue offered sun-soaked afternoons and beachside nights that turned into mornings. It maintained a loyal crowd drawn by its signature atmosphere. While Dubai's beach club scene increasingly gravitates towards curated luxury and Instagram-friendly aesthetics, Barasti remained an outlier. It evolved with the city without losing the relaxed ethos that made it popular. The upcoming transformation aims to preserve that balance.
Reimagining the waterfront destination
The redevelopment reflects the rapid evolution of the surrounding neighbourhood. As Dubai Marina and Dubai Harbour attract a growing residential community, the new Barasti is set to be positioned as a well-rounded local hub. The vision is to create a destination that shifts from sunrise breakfasts to sunset gatherings.
The reimagined Barasti will feature multiple zones catering to different moods and audiences. Plans include family-friendly spaces during the day and elevated, adult-focused experiences after dark. Redesigned interiors and enhanced culinary offerings are also part of the project.
“Barasti is part of Dubai’s story. For 30 years, it has brought people together and created memories for generations of residents and visitors. We’re creating a destination that will honour that legacy while taking it to an entirely new level.”
— Ugur Lee Kanbur, Multi-property General Manager of Destination Mina Seyahi
Final farewell event
Before the transformation begins, the venue is planning one final send-off. Set for June 21, the "Barasti: Last Orders" event will be a full-day celebration starting from 10am. The event will bring together beachfront lounging, live DJs, and crisp beverages. Organizers expect a crowd that spans generations of Dubai residents.
A farewell package is priced at Dh150. The venue is inviting residents to one last celebration before closing its doors. The closure marks the end of an era for the Mina Seyahi mainstay, but management promises a return in 2027 as a fully reimagined beachfront destination.
