Aysha Ameer, 27, just won a free Binghatti studio apartment in Dubai. The ‘Win Your Home in Dubai’ draw, run by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE) and Dubai Chambers, invites shoppers who spend at least Dh500 at selected outlets to scan a QR code, upload their receipt and enter for a chance to win one of around 12 apartments.
How the Draw Works Participants can join the promotion by spending Dh500 or more at any of the more than 4,000 outlets that have signed up. Once the receipt is uploaded, the shopper is entered into a weekly draw that will run until August 30, when the final winner of the 12th apartment will be announced.
DFRE’s Acting Vice President of Retail Calendar and Promotions, Mohammed Feras Arayqat, said around 1,00 brands are taking part. “It's a very simple mechanic,” he said. “You just shop for Dh500 dirhams, scan the QR code, upload your receipt, and then you're in the draw.” He added that the initiative reflects Dubai’s habit of bouncing back and celebrating community spirit.
A Winner’s Reaction Aysha Ameer entered the draw after her husband spotted promotional signs in a mall and suggested she try her luck. “I filled in the details and then I get a call on Friday telling me that you've won this home,” she told Khaleej Times. “And initially, I was thinking that it's some kind of scam and then they sent me an email with all the details.” She said the win felt like a rare stroke of luck, especially after she and her husband paused their own home‑buying plans earlier this year due to regional tensions. “I really never thought that I would win something like that,” she admitted. “You see all these people winning stuff, you feel happy for them, but you feel like it never happens to you. And then when something like this happens to you, you actually realise that you can just get lucky and Dubai does this to you.”
