Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has rolled out its electric bicycle delivery service to seven additional locations, extending the network that began as a pilot in February. The move follows a trial that recorded roughly 99% customer satisfaction and more than 90% driver approval.
Seven new districts join the RTA electric bicycles network
The new sites include Al Twar 1, Al Twar 2, Al Qusais 1, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Boulevard, Dubai Media City, Jumeirah Lakes Towers (JLT) and Dubai Marina. Each area was chosen for its existing infrastructure, proximity to retail and restaurant hubs, and rising demand from delivery firms.
These locations complement the original service zones of Al Karama, Al Hamriya, Umm Hurair and Al Mankhool, bringing the total coverage to eleven districts across the emirate. The expansion reflects the authority’s aim to provide flexible mobility options while easing congestion in busy commercial corridors.
Regulatory framework and private‑sector partnership
The RTA says the rollout follows a comprehensive regulatory framework that sets licensing requirements, operating procedures, quality standards and compliance measures for delivery operations. This framework is designed to ensure safety, efficiency and consistent service quality as the sector grows.
Selection of the new districts was based on criteria such as suitable infrastructure, dedicated routes, and the nature of the neighbourhoods. The initiative is being delivered in partnership with private‑sector operators, with agreements that spell out operational requirements, compliance standards and safety protocols.
The expansion aligns with the Commercial Transport and Logistics Strategy 2030 and the First and Last Mile Strategy, both of which target reduced operating costs and improved delivery services.
