Anitta returns with a massive new album this week, leading Billboard’s latest New Music Latin poll. The curated list features the best in new releases, offering listeners a chance to vote on their favorites.
The singer’s project, titled EQUILIBRIVM II, is a two-part, 32-song collection that dives deep into her personal history. Anitta embraces her culture and identity throughout the tracks, opening up about her faith, ancestry, and a "cleansed soul." The soundscape is distinctly Brazilian, moving through genres like forró, funk, bossa nova, and samba. While the album is primarily in Portuguese, it features notable songs in English and Spanish, alongside collaborations with key acts from the Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) scene.
Anitta described the effort as a complete personal investment. “I poured my whole self into this album. Anyone who listens will realize that,” she says in a statement. “These songs reflect so much of my spirituality, my worldview, the Brazilian elements that captivate me, and even touches on my own life story. Every choice—musical or visual—was made with intention. I am very proud of what we are delivering.”
Joining her on the list is Cypress Hill, who are making a significant shift with Dios Bendiga. This release marks the group’s first-ever Spanish-language project and features Latin rappers Trueno and Alemán. The poll also includes new music from Ryan Castro, Lunay, and the late Regional Colombian star Yeison Jiménez, spanning a variety of styles across the Latin music landscape.
Billboard’s weekly poll, curated by editors from Billboard Latin and Billboard Español, invites fans to weigh in on the best drop. The previous poll, published on July 17, was dominated by Kendo Kaponi’s comeback track “Se Equivocan” with Farruko, which earned more than 64% of the vote. Voting for the current round closes at 11 a.m. ET on Monday, July 27, though results will only be posted if the poll generates more than 1,000 votes.
