Air India Express added two new routes from Abu Dhabi on Oct 25. The announcement came from Abu Dhabi Airports, highlighting the airline's continued growth.
The carrier now flies to Amritsar and has restored flights to Goa, each operating three times a week. The moves raise the weekly Abu Dhabi‑India flights to about 160, linking 17 Indian cities. This schedule gives travellers more weekend flexibility. The increased frequency also supports leisure travellers seeking short‑haul options.
Amritsar service opens new weekend options
Starting on October 25, Air India Express began a thrice‑weekly service between Zayed International Airport and Amritsar. Carsten Norland, Chief Commercial Officer at Abu Dhabi Airports, said India is one of the most important markets for Abu Dhabi and that the Amritsar launch deepens ties between the two nations while broadening travel choices for passengers. Norland’s comment underscores the strategic importance of the route for the airport’s aim to expand its network.
Nipun Aggarwal, Chairman of Air India Express and Chief Commercial Officer of Air India, noted that the new Amritsar route reinforces Abu Dhabi’s place in the airline’s international network. He highlighted the airline’s focus on connectivity between India and the UAE, offering more convenient options and supporting community, cultural and economic links. Aggarwal’s dual role reflects the close coordination between the carrier’s Indian and international operations.
