XRG is expanding its presence across the Americas.
Expanding the Americas Footprint
In recent months, XRG has advanced strategic investments across LNG, chemicals, advanced materials and upstream gas, positioning the UAE not only as an energy supplier but also as a global investor in infrastructure and commercial networks. The company has launched a new global trading platform with ADNOC and ADNOC Gas, reinforcing its role as a long‑term investor in the region.
Key to the expansion is XRG’s equity stake in all five trains currently under construction at Rio Grande LNG in Texas. The 30‑million‑tonne‑per‑annum export project gives the company exposure to one of the world’s largest LNG developments and strengthens its ability to connect U.S. gas supply with growing international demand.
Building a Global LNG and Materials Network
XRG is building a global LNG marketing and trading business that targets a 47‑million‑tonne‑per‑annum marketable portfolio by 2035. The company is also expanding into Argentina’s Vaca Muerta basin, holding a 32% stake in upstream assets that support a 12‑million‑tonne‑per‑annum Argentina LNG project.
Beyond LNG, XRG is establishing a major North American footprint in chemicals and advanced materials through partnerships with Covestro, Borouge International and NOVA Chemicals. Covestro provides an established U.S. manufacturing platform, and its recent acquisition of the former Vencorex production site in Freeport, Texas, expands XRG’s ability to supply high‑performance materials for automotive, construction, electronics and healthcare sectors.
Strategic Significance for the UAE
By investing across the value chain—from molecules that feed energy and industrial processes to advanced materials used in smartphones, medical devices, vehicles and buildings—XRG positions the UAE as a provider of critical industrial inputs, not just an energy supplier.
For the UAE, XRG’s Americas portfolio deepens participation in energy infrastructure and industrial value chains, supporting the creation of a diversified international platform anchored in long‑term partnerships. The United States remains the anchor market, where the UAE has already invested more than $85 billion in energy assets across 19 states, supporting power generation, advanced chemicals and other sectors.
