ROX has started assembling its Adamas model in Abu Dhabi. The Chinese automobile maker completed its Advanced AI Manufacturing Centre and rolled the first three vehicles off the line, each bearing the “Made in the Emirates” mark.
Local Assembly Launches at Advanced AI Centre
The new plant occupies 10,000 sq m within the Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi – Kezad Group industrial ecosystem. It builds on a partnership between ROX and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO), aiming to localise supply chains, technology and design. The location offers state‑of‑the‑art infrastructure and connectivity that supports large‑scale production.
Inside the centre, more than 80 types of vehicle components can be sub‑assembled, alongside full vehicle assembly. The centre can locally sub‑assemble over 80 distinct vehicle components, reducing reliance on imported parts and deepening the Emirati supply chain. The first three Adamas units left the line this week, showcasing the Emirati‑made badge and signalling a shift from imports to domestic production.
“The UAE has strengthened its leading position on the global manufacturing map by building a competitive industrial ecosystem based on innovation and advanced technology, while reinforcing its position as an attractive destination for high‑value investments and future industries.”
— Hasan Jasem Al Nowais, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology
Scaling Up Production and Aligning with National Strategies
The facility is expected to produce 20,000 vehicles in 2027, with plans to lift output to 300,000 units annually by 2030. The output is intended for the domestic market and to support exports across regional and international destinations. Both the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative and the “Operation 300Bn” strategy aim to boost In‑Country Value and position the UAE as a leader in advanced manufacturing.
ROX’s progress reflects the objectives of the “Make it in the Emirates” initiative and the National Strategy for Industry and Advanced Technology, known as “Operation 300Bn”. The ministry highlighted the project’s role in enhancing In‑Country Value, increasing the competitiveness of products manufactured in the UAE, and creating high‑quality opportunities for Emirati talent. Al Nowais noted that the start of production demonstrates the UAE’s ability to attract and localise advanced industries spanning production, assembly, design, research, development and artificial intelligence applications.
“ROX’s progress in Abu Dhabi is a clear example of how industrial investments can translate into local production, deeper industrial capability and global growth. By anchoring more of its manufacturing and value chain in the emirate.”
— Mohammad Ali Al Kamali, Chief Trade and Industry Officer, Abu Dhabi Investment Office
