The United Arab Emirates has launched a nationwide Eid Al Adha celebration dedicated to its workforce, with events organised across 30 locations in all seven emirates. The initiative, held under the theme 'Our Workers' Happiness, the Joy of Our Eid', is led by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) and runs alongside the Eid Al Adha holidays.
According to local reports, more than 300,000 workers are expected to take part in the programme, which is designed to promote worker wellbeing, social inclusion and community belonging. Local reports indicated that the celebrations bring festive activities directly to industrial zones, labour accommodations and community centres, ensuring that blue-collar workers share in the national holiday.
Programme of activities
MoHRE has confirmed a packed schedule of events spread over two days. Activities include cultural and folk performances, interactive entertainment shows and raffle draws offering prizes such as a car, travel tickets, mobile phones and shopping vouchers. Sports tournaments featuring football, volleyball and cricket are also being held at worker accommodation sites and dedicated venues, according to GCC Business News.
Local reports indicate that workers attending the events have been filmed enjoying live music, group dances and competitive games, with several walking away with prizes through raffles organised by the ministry and its partners.
Federal and local partnership
The initiative is the result of close coordination between federal and local government entities. Partners include the Ministry of Interior, the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security, the General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs, AD Ports Group, municipalities nationwide and police headquarters across the UAE, local reports indicate.
Private sector companies have also organised parallel celebrations for their staff during the Eid period, reflecting a wider commitment to social responsibility and worker welfare, according to GCC Business News.
Recognising the workforce
Officials say the celebrations are intended to acknowledge the contribution of workers to the UAE's economic growth and infrastructure development. By extending Eid Al Adha festivities into industrial and residential areas where workers live, the programme reinforces the country's stated commitment to a safe, supportive and appreciative environment for every resident.
The nationwide rollout positions worker wellbeing as a central theme of this year's Eid Al Adha observance in the UAE, alongside the official public and private sector holidays already announced for the occasion.
