Dubai International Airport (DXB) now has more than 40 international airlines operating regular services through the hub, connecting the emirate to destinations across Asia, Europe, Africa, Australia and the Americas, operator Dubai Airports has confirmed (per local reports and IndexBox).
A widening carrier roster
The list spans home carriers Emirates and flydubai alongside a wide bench of foreign airlines that have continued to add or maintain DXB rotations through 2026. Local reports indicated that the airport remains a central transit point for travellers heading into Eid Al Adha and the summer travel season, with more than 40 international airlines actively scheduled (per local reports).
Travel And Tour World describes a parallel push to widen the network, with carriers launching or extending routes to serve millions of holiday passengers around Eid Al Adha 2026 (per Travel And Tour World).
Traffic targets for 2026
The carrier expansion lines up with the airport's own growth plans. Dubai Airports has said DXB handled 92.3 million passengers in 2024 and 95.2 million in 2025, and is targeting around 99.5 million passengers in 2026 as it edges towards the 100 million mark (per local reports).
According to AGBI, Dubai Airports is scaling up operations after a softer first quarter, with management pointing to recovering demand on long-haul routes and continued strength on Asia and Europe corridors (per AGBI).
Connectivity profile
By the end of 2025, DXB was linked to 291 destinations in 110 countries, served by more than 100 international airlines, according to figures cited by industry trackers covering the hub (per IndexBox). The 40-plus figure highlighted in current updates refers specifically to active international carriers operating scheduled services through the airport at this point in the year.
Why it matters for the UAE
For Abu Dhabi residents who use DXB as a secondary gateway and for the wider UAE aviation sector, the carrier base matters because each additional airline brings extra seat capacity, more competitive fares and stronger onward connections via foreign hubs. Dubai Airports has said it will continue to work with airlines to add new routes and frequencies as part of its strategy to reinforce DXB's role as the world's busiest international airport.
The operator has also flagged investments in transit experience, immigration flow and baggage handling, intended to keep service standards stable as traffic edges towards 100 million annual passengers (per AGBI).
