Marvel unveiled the first full trailer for Avengers: Doomsday. The clip offers the clearest look yet at Doctor Doom and a mix of Marvel corners. The film is slated for release on December 18.
Doctor Doom’s power on display
Robert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom appears early, confronting Thor as lightning crackles around them. Thor swings his enchanted axe Stormbreaker – a weapon first seen in Avengers: Infinity War – and Doom stops the hammer with a single hand. The visual suggests the villain’s armor does far more than shield him, hinting at a blend of advanced tech and magic.
In the brief exchange, Doom shows no sign of being knocked back or troubled. He barely moves, turning the encounter into a warning rather than a full fight. By halting Stormbreaker so effortlessly, the trailer positions Doom as a threat that could challenge even the strongest heroes.
Returning heroes and fresh clashes
Chris Evans returns as Steve Rogers, reuniting with Chris Hemsworth’s Thor and reaching for Mjolnir. The moment mirrors the iconic scene in Avengers: Endgame where Rogers proved worthy of the hammer. His renewed grip on the weapon suggests he may step beyond a retired soldier role and become a frontline combatant once again.
Marvel has confirmed Evans’s appearance but has not explained where this version of Rogers originates. The trailer leaves open whether he is the original character restored to prime, or a counterpart drawn from another part of the multiverse.
The trailer also brings together Shang‑Chi, Gambit and Mystique. Simu Liu, Channing Tatum and Rebecca Romijn were all previously confirmed for the film, and the new footage shows Shang‑Chi battling Gambit at the X‑Mansion while Mystique morphs into Yelena Belova during a confrontation.
These scenes hint at a broader conflict that pulls heroes from different corners of the Marvel universe into a single showdown. With the film’s release date set for December 18, fans now have a clearer picture of the alliances and rivalries that will shape the upcoming adventure.
