A converted garage in Dubai Investment Park hides a fashion secret. Absent Findings founder Shivin Singh welcomes visitors to his villa, dressed in a Crude Long Sleeve T-Shirt from his own label. He leads guests past lush greenery and overgrown bushes to a studio that feels removed from the city. Inside, business partner Laura Puscasu manages a space filled with paintings by artist friends, flea-market finds from Florence, and references to David Lynch films.
The studio functions as the production hub for one of the UAE’s independent labels. While the brand sources deadstock textiles from Italy, every prototype, handbag, and garment is developed and produced in the UAE. Singh compares this meticulous approach to high horology, where every component is painstakingly developed before assembly. "I want to show people that the UAE is not just a luxury client," Singh says. "It's also a luxury producer."
The brand’s aesthetic draws on architecture and personal history. The sculptural Gallery Bag features quilted leather and stitch lines inspired by Le Corbusier’s Chandigarh and the drape of Singh’s mother’s saris. Another standout, the Bandhgala jacket, reimagines Indian formal wear with curved piping that echoes the geometry of Chandigarh's Palace of Assembly. These pieces rely on a collaborative team that includes master tailor Sajid and Singh’s mother, an actress from Kolkata. "It really does take a small village to create something like this," Singh says.
The label recently presented its Spring/Summer '27 collection digitally during Milan Fashion Week. Titled "What's the Colour of My Voice?", the collection marks a new chapter for the brand. Shoppers can currently find Absent Findings pieces at local stockists including Sole DXB, Serai Collective, and Ether in Abu Dhabi.
